At Duquesne, we are proud to be part of Pittsburgh's community thread, with neighbors on all sides: Downtown, South Side, Hill District, Hazelwood and the Mon Valley. This isn't just where our campus is located; this is our community. We have a long history of helping our neighbors, and these partnerships pave the way for a bright shared future ahead.

Volunteering is an important part of our work, but it's just one of the ways you'll find Duquesne engaging in the community.

A Tradition of Service

Serving others was central to our mission in 1878 when the Congregation of the Holy Spirit founded Duquesne to educate immigrant millworkers and their families. And as one of the region's most significant anchor institutions, our commitment to the common good stands equally strong and true today.

Duquesne's students, faculty, staff and partners work to make a difference here in Pittsburgh, throughout western Pennsylvania and beyond. In fact, 60 percent of our students are involved in local, national and global community engagement.
